Try out! Good luck!Portal is a game consisting of a series of puzzles you must solve by teleporting your character to different locations in a sort of maze. It is set in a futuristic sci-fi ambience. It is a first-person game, in which your character, named Chell, has to solve every puzzle created by an antagonist artificial intelligence entity.

The puzzles demand creative solutions, and, luckily, there are various ways to solve them. Once you have completed all of them, you are allowed to access two additional modes: Challenge and Advanced. Picking the Challenge mode means that this time you must not only solve the puzzles but also meet specific demands, less time and teleporting. In Advanced mode, you need to beat more obstacles and hazards.

When entering portals, you need to decide on a color: orange or blue. Besides, it is important to know that the direction and speed at which you pass through a portal is preserved once you reach the other side, which allows you to maneuver and solve some challenges. Besides, transporting some kinds of objects or firing through a portal is not allowed. Your character will have to face many dangers. Some obstacles may lower her health levels while others may be fatal. Unfortunately, there is no health indicator.

The game 3D graphics are quite sophisticated, particularly in terms of simulating the laws of physics. Besides, it shows a careful futuristic design of the rooms and other objects. Likewise, the game is accompanied by excellent music. I also liked the humorous dialogs, which certainly add to the excitement. There are a few shortcomings. In this respect, the story may feel too short and simplistic. Finally, it is a shame that cooperative multiplayer mode is not supported.

All in all, it is true that Portal is an old game already; however, it still preserves its original charm and excitement, particularly if you are into puzzle solving. The game is sold on Steam, from where you can download a demo version. Moreover, you should know there is an extension, Portal: Still Alive, with additional puzzles. There is also a sequel called Portal 2.
